About the Fellowships
The Victorian Health and Medical Research Fellowships (Fellowships) are high-value awards available to Australians pursuing a career in health and medical research.
Three individual, four-year fellowships of up to $200,000 per annum will be awarded in 2017. The total value of each Fellowship is up to $800,000. Fellowships will be paid to the Fellow’s Administering Organisation (university, hospital/other health service or medical research institute). The Fellowship is intended to support a full-time salary plus research costs, which may include costs to employ a research assistant.
In 2017 the Fellowships will be offered to mid-career (at least five years but no more than 12 years post-doctoral at the closing date for applications) health and medical researchers undertaking high quality transdisciplinary research that can demonstrate clear evidence of translational research leading to a clinical or commercial outcome in the areas of bioinformatics, genomics and/or health services research.
Researchers who are returning to the workforce after a career disruption (as defined by the NHMRC) or who wish to establish their own independently funded research program are encouraged to apply.
Successful applicants will be notified by the end of May 2017 with the expectation that the Fellowship Agreement is in place by 30 June 2017 and the Fellow’s work on the Fellowship project will commence by 1 October 2017.

All recommendations and decisions in relation to the selection of Fellowship recipients are final and no correspondence will entered into regarding either the determination or outcomes of the selection process.
